  • Ricky's Believe it or Not .... Picture Proof that Inwood's Loch Ness Monster Exists

Over the years a lot of people in Scotland believe that The Loch Ness Monster exists.

There is no actual proof it exists. The scientific community regards it as a modern-day myth, and explains sightings and pictures like the one above as a mix of hoaxes and wishful thinking.

In Inwood I frequently get asked "Where's Juan (code name Blonde) ???" and I tell them he's here. They usually respond with " Really I didn't see him or I never see the guy?"

Well I've finally obtained proof that Inwood's version of Loch Ness Monster exists. He can be clearly seen sitting in a beach chair watching the Sandlot-Panther Action below

He is not a myth. He's always watching

  • Original Inwood Love ... West Salute
From 1999 the only remaining league members are me, Blonde, and Karlos Kon. Believe it or not,  the next longest tenured members are from the original 2001 West Lob Ball championship Team

Ten years and at least 7 championships later, the league is proud and lucky to have them as friends.

Congrats Gentlemen, you may drive us crazy but your family

  • Who Else ? Best Team Always Win... Hustler-West
    They got there early
    and they weren't fucking around
as they didn't want to leave any doubt.
    and they didn't.

Top notch excellent hitting by Stevie
gave Edgar JR (Flaco who?) all the run support he would need as he finished the season on a strong note by frustrating the Trojans for 14 innings
to earn Inwood Playoff MVP status.

    Congratulations Hustlers-West

The Best Team won and your back on top in Inwood!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Thrill of Victory and the Agony of Defeat

Game 2 of the opening Season of the Inwood Morning League is an Instant Classic.

Situation : Sandlot lead the series one game to none and grabbed an early 2-0 lead on a couple of bloop hits. In the 5th the Panthers searched their magical bat rack
and scored 5 big runs off Sandlot Ace Johnny

In the 6th Johnny took matters into his own hand and hit a booming two run triple to make it a 5-4 game, unfortunately he was thrown out at home setting the stage for a dramatic 7th.

In the top of the 7th Sandlot got a runner on but Panther Ace Dave settled down to get two outs when Sandlot's
    Kheim (left)

Kheim in not known as a power hitter but on this day BOOM - Going Going Gone Good-Bye, a shocking two run homer that gave Sandlot the lead
My partner Lootch and I couldn't believe it (there went our extra ump money)
but to the Panthers credit as they rallied in the 7th only to have the tying run thrown out at the plate

After resisting joining the morning league, Sandlot was mad happy Sandlot earned the morning Champsionship

    Congratulations Sandlot ... well done
.... I will never call you Santanlot again .. maybe

The league would like to recognize and congratulate the Classy Panthers who were in Agony and shocked disbelief
    They cared
and played their hearts out. Mad respect

  • The Envelope Please
Whenever you pay off a wise guy
you have to have an envelope.
    Softball is no different

Top Reason You Always use an Envelope in Softball

    10. Professional.
    9.   Shiesty
    8.   Easy to hide from wife, etc
    7.   Trophies are for ten year olds and don't fit in envelopes
    6.   Administratively efficient
    5.   Easy to Lose so after you hand it out you hope they from it and you pick it up
    4.   Credit Cards not accepted
    3.   Easily fits in your sports bag
    2.  Your gonna use up the contents real fast anyway so might as well have it in apckage that you can keep close to you

and the Number One Reason You Always use an Envelope in Softball

    1.  Ghetto

  • Sancocho Power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After earning there way to the Inwood Championship by efficiently disposing of Parilla Latina (and Dominican Go Namath News ) 3-1 & 5-1, the party was on

as Trojan manager Renson's family provided delicous Sancocho for everyone

... including the Finals opponent Hustler's-West
..... gonna be a good Chip

The Hustler's now stand poised to reclaim their championship belt
... but who will they play in the chip?

  • He who hesitates is Lost
: Game 1 of the Morning league Championship pitted the upstart Panthers led by Inwood legend Captain Youseff
versus the red hot Sandlot led by former Knockout Rookie of the Year
    Andy Santana.

At face value it looked like Sandlot was going to crush them as the Panthers "out of loyalty" threw crafty lob ball ace Milton. However, an easy win turned into an Inwood classic.

The Panthers rode the momentum of their game 3 victory over HK News by scoring three first innings runs to put Sandlot in quicksand. For 6 2/3 innings it looked like 3 runs would be all they needed until:

Situation: Score 3-2 Panthers, 2 outs bottom of the 7th, and the tying run on second. Count 0-1. Panther reliever Dave

induces an easy pop up behind second base.

    Game.

    Set.

Match.... not quite as the Panther second baseman that was underneath the easy fly ball inexplicably hesitated and then simply watched the ball fall in, Score tied.

    My god.

I've umped a lot of games and it was the 1st team I felt bad for a team. Sandlot then scratched out a run in the bottom of the 8th to take game one of the series.

Panther Pain... let's see if they can rebound this Sunday.
