Groups Meeting at Easter Compton.

The Halls at Easter Compton

Driving through the village of Easter Compton you have probably noticed the new look sign advertising The Halls at Easter Compton. The village now proudly presents the Celebration Suite and Carnival Suite, both of which are available for hire.

Each suite is self-contained with kitchen and bar and both are offered at very reasonable rates starting from £30 for half a day.

The suites are ideal for:

Line Dancing Table Tennis

Business Meetings Plays

Conferences Luncheon Meetings

Badminton Musical Events

Childrens’ Community Drama Group.

A drama group for children is running in Easter Compton Village Hall. There are two groups; from 10.00 am until 10.45 for 4 to 7 year olds and 11.00 am until 12.30 for 8 to 11 years of age. Both Instructors are very experienced in running Drama sessions for children and are CRB checked. The main benefits are increased self-confidence, vocal skills, imagination, creativity and improved social skills. If you’re interested, please give Caroline a ring on 07890 869263.



Easter Compton Methodist Church.

will be holding its usual coffee morning, on the third Tuesday of every month. It will be from 10.30 until 12 noon. Raffle and stalls. We look forward to meeting with you and to welcome you all.



Easter Compton Parent and Toddler Group.

We meet every Monday during term time from 10am until 11:30am in the Village Hall. Lots of toys, some new ones recently purchased, and seasonal crafts. Refreshments, including fruit, provided. Please come along. For more information phone Loretta Preech on 631391.

The Severnside Art Club.

meets on Tuesdays at 2pm in Easter Compton Village Hall, with a tutored workshop once a month. There are some vacancies at present. Enquiries to the Secretary please, on 01454 632497



Groups Meeting at Pilning.

Line Dancing for All

We meet every Thursday morning 10.00 - 11.00 in the Mafeking Hall, Pilning. We have 12-15 regular members, but would welcome a few more. Our teacher is fully qualified - and patient! We are a friendly lot and as well as the exercise we do have fun. For further information contact Pearl on 632028.

Pilning Angling Club

is a club devoted to Deep Sea Angling. It meets on the last Tuesday of every month for a very informal and friendly meeting at the Cross Hands at 8.00 pm. It also organises an angling trip about once a month. If you would like more information, please contact Ray Edwards on 01454-633232 or just come along and get a warm welcome.

Pilning Army Cadets, New Passage Road near Severn Beach

We meet every Monday and Thursdays 7:15pm - 9:30pm, giving boys and girls age 12 (year 8) - 18 years old the opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people, also the chance to go away on camps. Pilning Pips -Trinity Hall, Pilning.

Pilning Tots’ Time.

Our friendly Parent/Carer & Toddler Group meets in Trinity Hall every Tuesday during term time from 10am until 12 noon. Creative activities and lots of toys, including a ball-pit, ride-ons and a safe play area for babies. Refreshments provided. Just come along or phone Julie Pickett on 631216.

Princess Royal Trust for Carers Group, Severn Beach.

Would you like to meet other carers? Severn Beach Carers Group meets on the second Wednesday of the month from 1 until 3pm at Pilning Surgery. Call Penny Snow (Carers’ Line) 01179 652200.



Severnside Out of School Club.

We collect children from St Peter’s, Pilning and Northwick sites and Severn Beach Primary schools, and entertain them until up to 6pm. St. Peter’s Choir & Special Choir.

Rehearsals are every Monday at 7.30pm until around 9pm. A large range of musical styles are covered and there's no need to read music; all ages from eight to eighty are welcome. For more details phone Roy on 01454 632670.



SureStart are pleased to inform you of our new Baby Café to be piloted from September 2008. The Café is for Dads, Mums, Grandparents and Carers with Children Birth to 18 months & is at Pilning Village Hall on Thursday mornings in term times only.

The Village Players Drama Group.

We have electric scooters, wheelchairs etc. which we can loan you, long or short term according to your needs. Or would you like free transport to our monthly Luncheon Club on the third Tuesday of every month and enjoy good company at a friendly pub. Breakfast Club for Severn Beach, Pilning & Easter Compton.

We meet on the first and third Sunday of every month in termtime at 10.00 am at the United Church. It is mainly for children of primary school age but their parents and the rest of the family may find it interesting and enjoyable as it teaches the Christian faith in a new and exciting way. A club for the amateur gardener, a friendly group of people who enjoy sharing ideas and plants. Stitches Group.

Meet on the 1st Monday of every month at United Church at.7.00-9.00pm. THORNBURY U3A

After celebrating it’s 10th anniversary in 2008, Thornbury University of the Third Age now has membership approaching 1500. It organises well over 60 groups, listed below that offer a wide range of educational, social and leisure activities. Annual membership costs £6.00 per person and £10.00 for two people at the same address. This entitles members to attend as many groups as they wish. The majority of groups meet during the day, either in members’ homes or local halls.
