What is a TAIZE service? Taize services have been held in St Peter’s for several months. They are quiet, reflective acts of worship, with simple chants and songs, a reading, intercessions, and time for you to gather your thoughts. There is no sermon, and there are candles to light if you feel inclined. No pressure, and time to contemplate life.

News from Emmaus Fairtrade Fortnight is from Monday 28th February to Sunday 13th March. Many farmers and workers in developing countries struggle to provide for their families. A few from Emmaus Church have seen this first hand when visiting Rwanda and Kenya. Unfair trade rules and limited access to the best markets often mean that the price farmers get for their crops does not cover the cost of production. They also face the challenges of recession, rising costs and climate change. (This all sounds familiar for this country too!) Buying goods with the FAIRTRADE Mark mean that the producers receive a guaranteed price so that they can have a stable income, plan for the future and invest a small amount in local community projects such as health clinics and schools. On 2nd March, we will hold an African Evening at Emmaus CC to share our experiences, photos and some short videos of Rwanda and Kenya in support of Fairtrade Fortnight. You are all invited and we look forward to seeing you there. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
