Inudist's personal page on nudism (or naturism)

Nudism (or naturism) is a lifestyle that I enjoy, but because of the nature of our society, it is not something I can yet share openly with everyone. Nudism can be called a secret life for me. I'm not ready to reveal my name yet so I have taken this online identity of Inudist. Someday soon I hope that can change. Probably as I approach retirement I can be more open about nudism with everyone.

Some of my nudist activities involve finding a secluded place outdoors to go hiking, sunbathing or skinny dipping, depending on the location. I also go to public locations, such as nudist clubs, beaches, or hot springs when I can. I am often nude at home.

I am interested in positively promoting nudism as a healthy and wholesome lifestyle. My ultimate goal is for nudism to become accepted and widely practiced by our society so that anyone who desires to be nude in appropriate situations can do so without fear. I support any efforts to set aside more public lands for nudists than exists now.

I believe that one of the biggest obstacles in acceptance of nudism in our society (especially in the US) is the issue of body shame. It may be that some people think their bodies are not up to par and are embarrased to be seen. This probably applies more to women, but it is there for many men as well. Also there is a perception that if someone does not have a perfect body, it is awful to look at and they have no business showing themselves, where if a "supermodel" is naked it is fine. There are a lot of things that keep this going such as the media, clothing industry advertising, and even some religious perceptions. These all contribute to this idea that the body is shameful and must be covered up at all times in public. We very much are a clothing obsessed society.

In the nudist environment, body acceptance is a very important concept. Nudists by no stretch of imagination are all "beautiful people" but come in all shapes and sizes with imperfections such as scars, wrinkles, sags, etc. The most important thing is that no one cares what you look like! You will fit right in. It's who you are, not what you look like that is important.

Recently I have read some discussion on the differences of the meanings of nudism and naturism and this interesting, but I tend to use these two terms interchangeably.
