First Meeting

Welcome to the Benicia-Vallejo-American Canyon* Shawl Ministry Website!

We want to bring individuals of all faiths together to knit or crochet (or weave or sew or whatever you can do) prayer shawls and lap blankets for persons in need of comfort in our communities.  You can identify the persons for whom you make your shawls or blankets, and as a group, we can build up an "inventory" of completed items to give when the need arises.

These shawls and blankets bring a great deal of comfort to those who receive them.

The group is meeting on the last Monday of each month from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  You can attend one, any, or all of these gatherings.

If you want to join us but don’t know how to knit, we can put you together with someone in the group who will help you learn.  (During the month of July, the Benicia Knitting Circle charity knitting group will be offering free lessons on Thursday evenings.)  There are ways of making comfort blankets, too, that do not require knitting or crocheting.

*You don't have to live in Benicia, Vallejo, or American Canyon to join our group!
