Dear Inland Northwest USATF members, It is time to renew your USATF membership for 2010. Our membership fees are: Youth 18 and under = $20.00, Adult 19 and older = $30.00. The quickest way to renew is to go on-line at: www.usatf.org. You can receive a discount for renewing for multiple years, when purchasing on-line. I have enclosed a form, if you prefer to pay by check. Please make your check out to: “INTF”.
By the time you receive this Newsletter we will have hosted the USATF National Cross Country Championships. I hope many of you were able to participate or, at least get a chance to go to Plantes Ferry Park to watch. And, for those that helped with volunteering, thank you for doing so.
We will be having our next Association meeting on February 21st, 1:00pm at Pullman High School. Our association will be discussing their immediate needs at this meeting. Your presence would be greatly appreciated and we value your input. Here are just some of those needs: *Looking for a club to host; INTF Association Age Group Champs, June. *Looking for a club to host our INTF Assoc. Combined Event Championships, June. *We have many people willing to help a club put on these events. If you are interested please contact Kim Kutsch or Mike Hinz. *We are also looking for a new Membership Chairperson. Kim Kutsch needs to retire from this position and is willing to discuss with anyone what the job entails and train them for this position. It is mostly done on-line and requires 1-2 hours a week, seasonally. *Officials: Many of our long-time Officials have expressed the desire to retire from officiating. However, all over the country, we are experiencing a lack of athletes (High School and older) willing to become Officials. We will be hosting our next USATF Officials Clinic March 14th, 8:00am, EWU room #103. Please bring a friend, recruit athletes, coaches and parents.
YOUTH ATHLETES: Our youth championship meets and races are listed on the calendar enclosed. Our Association has a Youth Travel Grant Fund. If one of our youth athletes qualify for a USATF sanctioned National meet, they may pick up a travel grant form at the Association or Regional Championship meets from Kim Kutsch, or they can be found on the youth page of our web-site. The form must be filled out and turned in by the last day of the Region 13 Championships for Junior Olympic National meets, or 30 days prior to the national meet they will attend for non-Junior Olympic meets. The grant is given priority to those athletes in financial need, but all applications will be considered. The grant is a reimbursement grant, which means the athlete must attend the meet and show proof of attending the meet (e-mail results of meet). The grant will then be mailed within 30 days of the meet.
YOUTH CLUBS: There is a $100.00 penalty for waiting until May to renew, so please renew now. Youth coaches, need to fill out the Youth Club Coach form, become a USATF member, and go on-line to: http://www.usatf.org/ to complete their coaching background. INTF has a reimbursement program for clubs. A youth club in good standing: Paperwork submitted, coaches background checks complete and has volunteered at a minimum of 2 association championships meets, will receive a $3.00 reimbursement for each member on their club for the previous year. Here is how it works: Existing clubs: As soon as your club is in good standing with the association. The Treasurer will check with the Youth chair to see if you fulfilled your 2009 volunteering commitments. If you have, you will then, receive a check for $3.00 for every athlete, coach and parent that was a USATF member in 2009. This is a great way to start your season off with a little money in the bank. Many of our renewing clubs have used their money to purchase new equipment, help coaches and athletes go to out of town meets, or purchase uniforms for athletes that can not afford them. Please ask Kim Kutsch if you have questions about this program.

Please contact Heidi to confirm your reservation for the clinic. In 2010 USATF requires its certified Officials to have a current USATF membership. This will give the member insurance coverage for all meets and races that you officiate. Our association is now offering a $30.00 reimbursement if you officiate at least two of our Association Championships. These events include our 3 championship track meets in June and our J.O. Association Cross Country Championships in November. There will be reimbursement forms for you to fill out at each of these events.
