Inglés Técnico

English language plays an essential role for any modern and updated vocational training. English is the language of communication. Internet has also developed around English language. Students will have a wider access to knowledge if they can speak and understand it. English has become a requirement in order to get a job. Being able to communicate in English, students will have better chances to find a job; they can even search for one abroad.

This “Inglés Técnico” course is designed to help the students to use the English they learn to communicate effectively in work-related contexts. The activities and tasks are designed using the language skills required in a working environment, rather than just learn lists of words and grammar from text books. The students will also have the chance to practice their English skills in a wide range of real life situations which require a basic and largely predictable use of language.

The students will work simple English texts related to their vocational studies as well as many others related to facilitate their survival in an English speaking country day-to-day life or while travelling in a foreign country. These texts include street signs and public notices, product packaging, forms, posters, brochures, city guides and basic instructions. Furthermore, they will deal with personal written messages such as letters, postcards or emails, and gain some information from informative texts taken from newsletters and magazines.

Regarding listening and speaking skills, the students should understand the basic information given in public announcements at sporting events or airports, as well as handle basic conversation answering personal questions related to their jobs, studies and hobbies. Over the telephone, they should get the name of a caller and write down a simple message including a phone number. In a conversation the students will ask basic questions to request more information and they will express their own likes and dislikes in simple terms.
