GARDENERS RULE !!! AND HERE ARE THE RULES - Each gardener is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of their garden plot. This includes watering, weeding, harvesting, other maintenance, and end of season clean-up. Gardeners may arrange for other gardeners to water their plots.
- Each member must sign the “Contact Information” and “Release of All Claims” forms before working in the garden.
- Each member is given one key to the garden and storage shed. The gates and storage shed must be locked and all community supplies returned to the locked storage shed prior to leaving the garden. Lost keys will be replaced at the member’s expense.
- Children other than garden members under the age of 18 are welcome but they must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times.
- We love our pets but they are not allowed in the garden area unless assisting handicapped persons.
- The Garden is a smoke-free, alcohol-free, and drug-free place. Portable music is not allowed out of respect for the neighborhood. You may sing to your plants if you wish J iPods ok.
- Everyone is responsible to haul out their own trash to maintain The Garden in pristine condition.
- Rules for Compost will be posted. Grass clippings, leaves, flowers, black and white shredded newspaper, straw, hay are permitted. It helps if cut into small pieces. Absolutely no meat, fish, fat, bones, dairy, or human, dog and cat waste is allowed in the Compost. To minimize attracting animals, no veggie or fruit scraps are permitted.
- The Garden is meant to be organic - - - no chemical fertilizers, pesticides or weed killers are permitted.
- Invasive plants and illegal plants are prohibited.
- Members may harvest vegetables, herbs and flowers from their garden only.
- Garden plots should be cared for at least once a week. If any plot remains unattended for more than three weeks, it may be reassigned.
- Garden members are asked for an annual tax deductible donation. The suggested donation is $25. Give what you can. This money is used to offset insurance, water, and The Community Garden’s supplies. Members agree what supplies to purchase with the members donations.
- Donations and grants received by the non-profit organization will be used to support the first Community Garden project. As funding increases, excess funds may be used to start other community gardens.
