Update 10/01/09 The "Big Dig" is DONE

Hello Gardeners - - -

The "Big Dig" is DONE - - - and we didn't have to lift a finger !  Jesse, the owner, and six other guys (who all agreed to work off the clock and donate their time so that Jesse didn't have to pay them) laid irrigation pipe and risers at every garden plot. We tested the system and water runs to each plot. Jesse donated the materials.

No need to bring picks and shovels tomorrow :-)

FRIDAY - - - Dave and I plan to meet at The Garden tomorrow between 8 and 8:30 am. He will prepare a supplies list to finish the project, go shopping, and then complete the work. Since we will each have individual faucets, it will be important to keep the main line ONWe will need to inform our resident Spanish lady about this. There should be sufficient pressure for 4 or 5 people to water at one time. But that will all be checked out tomorrow :-)

IMPORTANT - - - since the risers for the faucets are outside of each garden plot, please make sure they are not leaned on or hit with a wheelbarrow or they will break off.  Please watch your children and grandchildren. We considered putting the risers just inside the ends of the plots, but decided against that because many of the plots are planted and it might be difficult navigating around the veggies with a hose.

The wood chip guys don't have what we need, so the chips are delayed.

Ken and Joan of PCC will talk to our back neighbor and ask him to keep his rabbits secure. We still need to find the holes in the fence and plug them.
