Rain Rain 1/19/10

Hello Gardeners - - -

How nice to get some much needed rain. Just wish it didn't come all in one week! I have two rain barrels at home connected to two downspouts at the back of my house. All I can do is connect a hose and run all the rainwater captured from half of my roof into my pool ! I am still researching the best way to store captured rainwater short of building a cistern. Any ideas that are cost effective?

I hope everyone with timers on their garden sprinklers has turned them off !  Hope everyone can get to their garden plots after the rains to see how much their veggies have grown. They seem to love the natural rainwater more than city water :-)

I am forwarding a link that Rob sent me about a free seminar that the City of Upland is holding on Edible Landscaping (aka having your own garden) Guess it is catching on. Do you think we had a small part to play in this "awakening"?

Also, don't forget the Seed Swap at the Packing House in Claremont on Sunday January 31st from 10 am to noon sponsored by Claremont Food Not Lawns group. It's a lot of fun.
