Hello Gardeners - - - Things are really heating up (no pun intended) :-) Two more gardeners placed dark compost soil in their plots. More wood chips were spread on the front and side walkways. Thanks You. One plot was re-assigned to a newcomer named Janice. I took one plot and am sharing it with Tiffany who will be delivering her second baby in two weeks. By the end of October Tiffany expects to bring both her children to the garden to help with our shared plot. I have someone looking at our manure pile today to determine if he has the proper equipment to bury it. We are hopeful. Services are free ! We didn't get any donations of garbage cans with lids, so I am going to purchase (or beg for a store donation) of 3 or 4 to keep some extra manure for ready-use (i.e. mid-season fertilizing). If anyone has a garbage can with lid to donate please call or text my cell before 3 pm today (941-276-1150). My hubby, who is disappointed that he can't physically help with The Garden project, told me to buy the extra block for Plots 12 and 13 as his donation to our project. Yeah ! Blanca at Lowe's got us a donation of two flats of herbs and assorted veggie plants. They will be delivered to the store the end of September. Also, Lowe's is donating 20 seed packets of our choosing. For the gardeners with assigned plots - - - please email me your choice of an herb or veggie plant andyour choice of a seed packet. I will pick up your choices from Lowe's, if available. If they don't have what you want, I'll get other good stuff to plant so we don't lose the freebies :-) We hope to get our membership cards by the weekend. You can use these at Mt. Fuji's Nursery for a 10% discount. Don't forget the "Fencing Work Party" this Sunday, starting in the morning. Hope to see you there ! Mary |
