Hello Gardeners - - - More cardboard and wood chips have been spread on the west side behind the storage trailer. Marilyn added the dark compost soil to her plot. We had two gardeners who had to drop out of actively planting for the fall. Their plots are now occupied by newcomers. There is Janice who found out about The Garden from her friend Evelyn, an active gardening member. And there are friends of mine, Valerie and Greg, who have been supporters of this project and now have a plot. WORK PLANS FOR SUNDAY - - - All gardeners with plots need to complete their beds by adding a good 6 inches of dark compost soil and tilling their additives into this layer of soil. Remember to water before and after :-) We hope to start planting as early as next weekend and through the end of September. Projects for tomorrow: Start the fence installation Hopefully we will have a donated shed to pick up Bag and transport Marian's compost and bins Finish the planting bed along the fence Please Note: We talked about having a "First Planting" event. Since it will be nice to have our staging area cleaned up, fence installed, etc. before inviting "dignitaries" for a ceremonial seed planting, we probably will postpone the event until next month. No need to stress out over this. We just want to have fun. See you tomorrow, Mary |
