Hello Gardeners - - - One of our gardeners, Dave, gave us a wonderful garden "gift". He trenched and installed irrigation to three additional areas of our garden: the northwest plot belonging to Nancy and Joe, and the east fence plot and far northwest "area" where Carol is doing in-ground and container plantings. He bought and donated all the supplies and did all the work !!! THANK YOU DAVE. Did you notice our fruit trees? The newly planted apricot tree in the back of the garden has tiny apricots growing ! And the peach tree in front of the garden fence has tiny peaches growing ! The plum tree doesn't have any definable fruit yet, but you never know. Mother Nature is rewarding us for taking care of the land. I hope to get some of Mt. Fuji's "Bumper Crop" to the garden this week. There will be a bag for each plot. This is a great soil amendment and should be mixed into the top 4 to 6 inches of your soil a couple to boost the nutrients for your seeds and seedlings. If you already planted, no worries - - - you can sprinkle it over your soil. If you haven't started planting yet, don't worry. Spring is a bit late again this year and the best times to plant tomatoes, cukes, squash, and peppers are May and June. They love it hot! You can grow radishes, chard, beets and carrots all year round and this is a great time to plant those veggies. Mary |
