2/3/10 Update

Hello Gardeners - - -

FRUIT TREES:  We got the ok from the Beckers to plant the two fruit trees that the Sorvettis got for us from "The Tree People". We can plant them outside our fenced area between the fence and paved parking area. Yeah !

We may need a commitment from some of the gardeners to do a deep watering of the trees weekly.

PEPPER TREE:  If you see Leo, the maintenance worker for PCC, please tell him "thanks" for removing the Pepper Tree branches and large limb that broke over our fence and into Val's garden plot. Leo did a superb clean-up of the garden area. What a guy !!! One fence post is a little bent, but nothing that needs fixing. The silver lining is that the west side plots will get more sun in the winter months.

SUGAR SNAP PEAS:  Did anyone sample the snap peas along our fence? YUMMMMMMIIIIIIEEEEE !!!!! I only sampled a few since I have these growing in my home garden. Just pick and pop in your mouth.  And - - - at the end of the season, if there are any remaining pods that haven't been picked and get hard and crusty, we just harvest the peas inside, make sure they are dry, and store them in a glass container with a screw cap. These peas can be planted again next year and we will start developing our own "heirloom" variety of peas. We can call them "The Incredible Edible Community Garden Heirloom Peas".

RAIN: Forecast changed to rain on Friday and Saturday. Please turn off your automatic timers for watering. Thanks.
