Hello Gardeners - - -

Here's a tip for extending your harvest from winter to summer. Because of the cold cold weather including some frost last month, many of our winter squash didn't make it. If you have a spare section of your garden, you might consider planting more root veggies (carrots, beets, turnips, parsnips). Our seasonable temps will help them germinate quickly and we still have months before the warm summer weather begins. Typically these root veggies are planted in the fall and harvested starting at the holidays. I did this last year and was enjoying roasted root veggies thru April.

Happy Gardening :-) Mary
