11/30/09 Update

Hello Gardeners - - -

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We are so fortunate that it rained Friday and Saturday to give our garden some natural rainwater. The veggies are showing their appreciation. Lettuces and radishes are waiting to be eaten. Squash is forming and I noticed the juiciest, reddest  strawberry that caught my eye in one garden (but I resisted picking and eating it - ha).

Hope you got to pick and use our herbs in your holiday cooking. The oregano and parsley did a wonderful job with my home-grown basil in my annual batch of home-made Italian sauce.

The Beckers from PCC had a cartload of poinsettias they were placing around the campus. That is when I realized I forgot to remind everyone (including myself) to get over to HD and Lowes at 6 am on Friday to get 99 cent plants. Ken said they were all gone by 6:15. The limit was ten plants to a customer. Oh well - - - maybe next year.

You can pick up free evergreen tree branches from HD. They trim the lower branches of their Christmas trees and leave the extra branches for anyone to pick up. I hope to get a bundle to decorate our garden for the holidays.

Did you notice the extra straw bales. These are compliments of Kevin. Thanks Kevin. They will go to good use.

And we need to watch for that pesky wabbit. Our neighbor Chuck loves to feed it. It hasn't gotten in our garden yet. I squirted it with water through the fence this morning to let it know that it is not welcome. I hope it gets the message.
