Hello Gardeners - - - The high winds early this morning broke several rather large limbs on the tree behind our sink and a number of branches on the tree in the NE section of the garden by the picnic table. Luckily there was minimal damage to plots, etc. I hope to be there Friday afternoon with my gardener to cut down one tree and prune the other. A huge THANK YOU to Leo, the handyman at PCC, for cleaning up the mess. You will see the branches piled alongside the fence in the back of the garden. THANK YOU to Evelyn for planting a beautiful flower bed along the fence just outside the garden and behind our 2 fruit trees. The plants with the green feathery/cerrated leaves around and between the fruit trees are the re-seeded California poppies that were planted last year. Please do not take these out. Looks like we will have a field of poppies before long :-) Hope to see all of you at our Fall Harvest Celebration on Saturday. Parking will be at a premium because of the football games on the athletic field all day. You may need to park in some of the larger lots on the campus and walk to the garden. The weather will be beautiful. Sandra Emerson placed a notice of our celebration in the Daily Bulletin this week ! Mary |
