The IMC Story | The IMC Story
In July 1993, a few brothers and sisters in Christ with strong Methodist roots started a Bible study group conducted in the English Language. By March 1994, the Bible Study group had grown to about 20 in number, hence the need to start a Sunday Worship Service. In September, 1995, a committee was set up by the Local Church Executive Committee of the existing Perth Chinese Methodist Church to pave the way for the formation of a new Local Church to use English as the language of communication. On 19th May, 1996, our present bishop, who was then the Superintendent of the Methodist Church In Australia, the Rev James C. H. Ha officiated the founding of Immanuel Methodist Church (IMC). IMC continued to worship at 40 Kingsway, Nedlands at the church sanctuary of the Perth Chinese Methodist Church with the view of planting IMC in a separate location. In November, 1997, IMC contracted to purchase a church building at 33, Cloister Avenue, Manning to be used as a place of worship, meetings, office and Christian Education purposes. IMC moved to the present building in September 1998. Currently, IMC has both English and Chinese-speaking Sunday Worship services. The Chinese service is being held at 9am, whilst the English service is at 11am, both together with the Children Sunday School. |
