Free Comic Book Day May 1st, 2010, Imagicopter was invited to attend Free Comic Book Day at Heroes and Dreams Comics (http://www.heroesanddreams.com/).
The event took place in Flowood, MS. It was a potentially stormy day
with weather experts predicting horrific and dangerous weather coming
our way but that did not stop determined collectors and fans of the
comics. The event turned out to be splendid and perhaps one of the
largest turn outs in Mississippi for Imagicopter.
Jen and her
assistants Amanda and Shelley set up the Imagicopter table in the back
of the store with the artists. Jen arrived with two tables knowing full
well that she would need two considering the amount of books she had
representing the authors involved in Imagicopter. However, upon the
arrival of one of the artists, Wade Acuff, she was obliged to offer him
one of her tables since he had none. The books and artwork of
imagicopter overwhelmed the little table used for display, but
portrayed the plethora of motley authors and artists under the
Imagicopter name.
The day turned out to be not only rainy but
hot and muggy. When the crowd began to fill the little store it was
difficult for the air-conditioning to keep up. Yet despite the added
discomfort the store was overflowing to the sidewalk and parking lot
with happy people. Jen conversed with a tremendous amount of the crowd
discussing and recommending books to the many inquisitive customers of
the store. Her assistants were not shy in presenting books and warm
smiles to everyone as well, as they passed out sugar free candy.
Jen
also spoke with the artists present about Imagicopter, what it
represented, and how the authors and artists assisted each other in
promotions and finding events. She also met Chuck Jett who discussed
with her the possibility of another up and coming event, Pulpcon, that
Imagicopter were welcome to participate in. Overall Jen felt that it
was a very good day for Imagicopter.
