Push Cart Race

The 2009 I Love NE Mpls Festival

would like to invite you to build a car and enter the RACE at the

1st ever
Push Cart Derby

Sponsored by The Waite Park Community Council.

The first ever Push Cart Derby is on Sunday, June 21, 2009, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at
Waite Park, which is located at 1800 34th Avenue, in Northeast  Minneapolis.

Why?  To help celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Northeast Parade & Father's Day!  There will be hot dogs, chips, pop and Culver's delicious custard for you to buy lunch for "Dear Old Dad," or anyone else
who will be attending the Derby!

Who can participate?  Anyone!  Families, business owners and neighborhood groups.
This would be a great event to have churches and community councils issue
a friendly challenge of participation.

There will be two award categories for the Push Cart Derby.

The "Pram" division includes children under the age of 5.
 Mommies and/or Daddies are mandatory.

The Art Cart division includes teams of at least three people.

Both divisions will be judged for their artistic efforts, & the ability to safely cross the finish line.
Northeast artist, Judy Westergard, will be on hand to judge the participants for their creativity.

Need a little inspiration?  Go on line and do a little research.  There are a few really great pages, including You Tube and the Dignowity Hill Push Cart Derby in San Antonio, Texas.

There will be an entrance fee and registration forms available on the www.Ilovenempls.com  and on the Waite Park Community Council web page as well as the festival website www.minneapolischamber.org/ilovenortheastfestival

Those of you who will be participating in the Push Cart Derby, will get to show off their
Push Cart in the Northeast Parade on June 23.
