NaNoWriMo LIIT Novel

posted Nov 22, 2009 9:37 AM by Sarah Hutchins

Writing, typing, and so much hurrying
End of NaNo is fast approaching
Finish in time?
I think not
But if you listen, I have a plot
We write together on a single novel
Submit your writing for a campus novel
Then we scrub it free of bugs
And weave it together like a literary rug
When it's done we all can say:
"I wrote a novel."
With how much help, we won't say

Submission Date: October 27th, 2009

We will be having a horror themed short story contest this October in celebration of Halloween. The only writing requirements for submission are that your story must be no greater than 1000 words in length and that the story must be of or related to the horror genre. The stories will be judged by the Liit editors according to a number of factors including but not limited to: how frightening the story is, originality, relevance to Halloween themes, creativity, and the overall quality. The winning story will be publishing in this semester's literary magazine, and the author of the winning story will also be endowed with Halloween treats.

Please send your submissions to liit@iit.edu with "Halloween Short Story Contest Submission" written on the subject line with your short story attached to the email. The submission deadline is Tuesday, October 27th; .doc and .txt are the preferred formats for submissions.

Some story idea suggestions just to get the thoughts flowing are: Murder, A Character Analysis of Zombies, The Truth behind the Man on the Bench Park, Ghosts of the Galvin Library, The Secrets of the IIT Steam Tunnels, and Why I No Longer Eat at the Commons.
