GAYE ILHAN DEMIRYOL

I am a postdoctoral associate at the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies and a lecturer at the Department of Political Science at Yale University. I earned my PhD in Political Science at Yale University in May 2010.  

My research interests are in Political Theory, History of Political Thought, Continental Political Theory, Contemporary Political Theory, Philosophies of History and Freedom. Additionally, I also have broad training in Comparative Politics, particularly states and regimes, and nationalism. 

In Fall 2011, I am teaching an advanced undergraduate seminar, "Freedom in Western Political Thought."It is a thematical survey of the conceptions of freedom in modern western political theory. In Spring 2011, I taught a course on Hannah Arendt's political thought. 

During my graduate studies, I worked for three years as a Graduate Fellow at the Graduate Teaching Center (GTC), where I designed and led teaching workshops for graduate teachers. In 2009-2010, I served as the Advanced Teaching Series coordinator. In Fall 2010, I continued to work for the GTC as a consultant. 

Since 2010, I am serving as a member of the Postdoc Advisory Committee at Yale University.
