By Azam Paki 24 July, 2009 In today's era of information and communication the media has great role to play in nation building and public opinion. In country like Pakistan media has even more important role to play because of lake of political maturity in society. That is why i always address to Pakistani media because i am of a strong belief that media has to play its greater role in maturing the temperament of people and politicians. Where many issues are buried in complex political setting and wested interests of the parties media is only hope to educate the nation because it has all the necessary recourses and the will "to do". I will draw the attention of the media where they can work in promoting the image of Pakistan, that area is accessability. By acceptability i mean to reach to the audience which had never been thought of. Since anti Pakistan propaganda is a big fact which took place to distort the image of Pakistan the national media is only which can play its role in combating this. Media should work in the area of languages. Pakistan media and especially PTV has great history of world class entertainment. Media should translate its programs in major languages like English, French, Arabic and Chines. This could be archives in collaboration with Language, Mass Communncation students as part of their studies or by professionals. This will help intrenational audience understand about the people and problems of the Pakistan in the form of entertainment and answer the propaganda of extremism which is associated with us. Private media has very important role to play in this because it is free from political influences. Initially subtitling of news and later of other programs in major languages can be another way of communicating more effectively to intended audience. Use of sign language to reach SPECIAL PEOPLE is another way of improving accessability. As the article is starting to turn into some sort of dictation which i do not like, people in Pakistani media are good enough to understand what i am trying to say is tell others that you are not what you are told by others. |
