Topic-1: In today’s world, as people become more self-centered, they grow fear of the other. Thus, they turn out to be increasingly egocentric, considering themselves superior to people from other cultures. This leads to a lack of intercultural communication and dialogue.

Define “self” and “other” and propose some ways that would help overcome the prevailing ethnocentrism, and that would ultimately promote dialogue, tolerance and friendship among the members of our community who bear various socio-cultural backgrounds.

Topic-2: Experiencing Different Cultures in Our Town: Attend two different gatherings of cultural or religious days (Christmas, Eid, Hanukkah, etc) that you are not familiar with and write an essay on your experience.

Students are free to select their choice between these two topics.
