Introduction

Purpose:

The purpose of this website is to provide assistance maneuvering through the IEP Process for the special education teachers in the Waltham Public Schools. It is designed to provide a quick and ready reference to process and procedure. Currently, the site provides information about the “Three Year Re-evaluation” process. It outlines the steps involved in obtaining consent; provides guidelines regarding the assessment process, and the procedures involved in the Team Meeting. The information provided is done in careful consideration of state and federal guidelines. In the future information, about writing the IEP, conducting an annual review, writing progress reports, manifestation meetings and other associated topics will be presented.

Author: Loretta Demshar is an Evaluation Team Leader in the Waltham Public Schools. She has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Pennsylvania State University and a M.Ed. in Moderate Special Needs from Boston College. Ms. Demshar has taught in elementary school, middle school and has been an Evaluation Team Leader for the past 12 years in the Waltham Public Schools.
