IEEE ENCS Picnic

The Train Ride

I decided to take the 11AM ride and eat later. I wandered over from the registration area and first took a look at some of the train cars in the museum area. Gave a feel for what it was like back at the beginning of the 20th century when the NHVRR was running as a comercial railroad. I watched when they switched out the diesel for the steam locomotive and then ALL ABOARD!

This is the New Hope Valley RR that we took a ride on.

Before the train ride, families got to take a tour of our steam engine and if you were lucky they let you ring the bell.

I am standing in the caboose waiting for good ol #17 to make up with our cars. But it looks like a wreck just about to happen eh?

Sitting in the open car. I found out this car was built back in WWII to haul heavy things like tanks.
