On January 15th the section meeting was all about writing an effective resume and cover letter. Emily Vlkojan from Aerotek was our speaker. She covered a lot of ground... here are some of the highlights:
Indeed.com crawls a large number of internet job posting sites and can consolidate your search.
Keep your resumes refreshed so sites have most current data.
If working with a recruiter try to meet him/her face to face and establish a rapport.
Try to tailor a resume to the needs of a specific job, emphasizing strengths that align with the needs of the company.
A large crowd showed up for the meeting.
Emily Vlkojan did a great job of giving tips on what HR personnel, and recruiters look for in a resume.
