auto-start

The Autostart Box

Under the large preview-window, left of the Play-button, you'll notive the 'structure view' button. Hit that, and you get an overview, how your DVD is structured. You van add content here, you can re-arranged it, erase it - play around!

And here is where you find the Autostart-box.

Any content dropped-in here is played fully automatic on insert of DVD. You can add any still here.

Example 1)

a 'rated KS' chart:

(done with a ready-made iMHD6 plug-in from geethree.com)

Create that pic in any pic-app, keep in mind you need a 4:3 (Standard) or 16:9 (HiDef) aspect-ratio.. FullHD would be 1920x1080.. dpi is of no use in video.. pixels do matter! save as jpeg, pic, whatever.. for sure, you could use something from your iPhoto Lib.

In iDVD, go to structure-view and drop from Finder that pic into the first box, 'Autostart'.
done.

On insert of DVD into player, your audience HAS to see (=autoplay) this important message.

Example 2)

For sure, the Autostart-movie can be a .. ehm, movie.
As the roaring lion from MGM, the 20th Century Building, the Bruckheimer Road to nowhere…
Or, do a very simple stopmotion intro, the backyard Production House Say-Cheese-Productions:

(done with Pixelmator and QTpro)

If you want to know: I painted that plate of cheese in Pixelmator; I did that 6x times, to vary the lines. Opening that 'Image Sequence' in QuicktimePro allowed me, to create a FullHD, 25fps (= for US: 29.97) movie.

Example 3)

… and finally, if you are able to handle 3D animation apps, some glamour…

(done with Quartz Composer + iMHD6)

iMHD6 allowed import of socalled .qtz files.. Quartz is a MacOS technology, which allows programmern to easiely create 'pic processing' (meant for animated menus, video transitions… the Maps in iM09 are done with Quartz). iMHD6  accepted such files as 'movies', fade-in, fade-out, my name.. 5 minutes, done.
