To be On Speaking Terms
News
On December 11, 2007, an international conference on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will be organised. Besides Israeli and Palestinian speakers, speakers from several other countries will participate. The conference will be preceded on December 10 by a simulation game performed by students from five Dutch universities and academies. They have been invited to prepare their role in one of the deelegations.
Both activities are organised by the International Dialogues Foundation (IDF) with the support of the municipality of The Hague. The conference will be organised in cooperation with other organisations, including CDAC, IKV-PaxChristi and Cordaid. The title of this conference: To be on Speaking Terms brings to expression its aim, as the present situation can be characterised by mutual exclusion.
The background for these new activities is the IDF conference Youth and Metropolis, in November 2006. The aim of this conference was the promotion of the participation of youth, migrant and non-migrant youth, in the public debate on issues connected to the relation between European society and the Muslim world. This applies to internal relations inside Europe itself as well as to the relations between Europe and the Muslim countries. |
