UPDATE: PARTNERS Now! Conference Aug 10th - 13th

Dear Friend,

Due to low registration numbers for the conference, the joint conference committee has decided to remove the workshops, the vendor booths, and the Saturday entertainment. No events will be held at the Boise Hotel Conference Center.  We will gladly refund your registration fee: see the note at the bottom for refunds. 

We are still offering several exciting events August 10th – 13th!

Wednesday, August 10th, 1pm – 4 pm; CDHH Open House Celebration

The Idaho Council for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing invite the public to an Open House Celebration of 20 years since its founding.  The celebration will be at the Council Office, 1720 Westgate Drive, Suite A-2, Boise.  Come meet current and past CDHH Board members, Executive Directors and staff.  Refreshments will be served.  Contact CDHH Executive Director, Steven Snow, at SnowS2@dhw.gov or  Secretary Cindy Schreiner at schreinC@dhw.idaho.gov or call 208-334-0879.

Wednesday, August 10th, 7:30pm: Signing Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew”

Signing Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival on Warm Springs Avenue in Boise.  www.idahoshakespeare.org, or 208-336-9221 and use Code #3239 for discounted seats in the Deaf and hard of hearing section.  Seats are $15.90 each!  Bring your own food and drinks or buy snacks at Café Shakespeare.  Go to DCI’s Facebook page to see an ASL synopsis of 2011 Signing Shakespeare plays by Davina Snow.  Sponsors include Scentsy and Deaf Center of Idaho

Thursday, August 11th, 9am – 5pm, IdahoRID Board meeting; open to the public 2pm-5pm

Thursday, August 11th, 6pm – 8pm, Community Picnic

Community Picnic, hosted by Hamilton Relay.  This annual community potluck picnic is sure to please everyone.  Join us at Julia Davis Park, Shelter #1 for fun!  Please bring a side dish, dessert or drinks to share; fried chicken, plates and silverware will be provided. Friday, August 12th 6:30pm; GUAA movie, “Black Sand”

Saturday, August 13th 1:30pm – 4pm; Task Force on Interpreter Licensure

Task Force on Interpreter Licensure:  This first town hall meeting will be for the Deaf Community.  Location is at CDHH 1720 Westgate Drive, Suite D.  The task force is gathering feedback from the Deaf community and the interpreting community on potentially requiring interpreters to have an interpreting license to interpret in Idaho.  We need your input!  We will be facilitating eight town hall meetings around Idaho (four with the Deaf community and four with the interpreting community).  If you are Deaf or hard of hearing and use interpreting services, please join us August 13th to be a part of this exciting project.
