Gessoed Boards



       


        In addition to our hand painted Icons, We offer gessoed boards for both students and professional iconographers. Our boards are solid 1'' thick Poplar made in the traditional way. Beginning with two layers of glue under the linen cloth, two more coats of glue and twelve layers of gesso follow. Finally the gesso is sanded smooth.
    
       Boards may be ordered stained on the sides and back a dark redwood color if desired for an additional $10.  All boards except the 4x5 and 5x6 come with braces included in the price.
    
       The 4x5 board is different from all larger sizes in that there is no linen cloth and there are only eight coats of gesso. The board is closer to 3/4" thick. This is a well priced board especially for students who may want to practice a face or something small.

        The rounded top boards are flat and currently cannot be ordered with a kovcheg. Plywood panels may be ordered upon request as a cheaper alternative.
