By air
If you are planning to fly to the UK, the most accessible airport from Oxford is London Heathrow. Direct buses to Oxford run by the Oxford Bus Company's Airline (X70) service leave Heathrow central bus station bay 14A every 30 minutes. If your flight is arriving at Heathrow terminal 5, take the bus from terminal 5 bay 11. Travel time is about 90 minutes depending on traffic. A period return ticket costs £25 and can be bought from the driver or in advance online. You can either get off at Queen's Lane on Oxford High Street or stay on the bus until the end of its journey at Gloucester Green bus station.

Direct buses from London Gatwick (X80) can take up to two and a half hours, while from London Stansted it takes nearly four hours by National Express (737), so Heathrow is the better option if you want a comfortable journey.

From London by bus
There are two bus companies that provide a regular service between London and Oxford, the Oxford Espress (X90) and the Oxford Tube. The Espress leaves from London Victoria coach station with pick-up points at Victoria, Marble Arch, and Baker Street; the Tube also leaves from London Victoria coach station with pick-up points at Victoria, Marble Arch, Notting Hill Gate, and Shepherd's Bush. A return ticket costs £20 for either service and the journey takes about 100 minutes depending on traffic. Again, you can either get off at Queen's Lane on Oxford High Street or stay on the bus until the end of its journey at Gloucester Green bus station.

From London by train
First Great Western operate a direct train service to Oxford from London Paddington. There is a fast service approximately every 30 minutes. The journey takes about an hour. Ticket prices are typically more expensive than travelling by bus, particularly at peak times. For the best prices, book in advance online. You can also call National Rail Enquiries on 08457 484950.
