Raising funds to further the purposes of the corporation.

Raising in-kind contributions of items to donate to noncommercial health care providers in developing communities.

Delivering charitable, humanitarian aid to disadvantaged groups in Central America and to noncommercial organizations that aid them.

The Institute for Central American Studies works to accomplish its goals by coordinating and supporting the activities of various projects.

La Esperanza Granada

La Esperanza Granada endeavors to brighten the future of the children and to empower four Nicaraguan pueblos to improve their current living conditions by providing opportunities and resources for the long term educational advancement and community development of those pueblos.  Located on the outskirts of the colonial city of Granada, La Prussia, El Pochote (Elba Zamora), La Epifania and Las Camelias are villages struggling to survive. Through the concern and the vision of several caring individuals, there is enough hope to help these pueblos in a time of need.  The projects are described in more detail at www.la-esperanza-granada.org .

Juntos Adelante

The project of Juntos Adelante is to promote more just distribution of health, financial, intellectual, and artistic resources, abundant in the developed world, to women-owned and operated organizations and businesses in developing nations. By transferring the wealth of services, products and resources in the developed nations to less developed nations, the end goal is to encourage self-sustainability of women initiated organizations dedicated to health and human rights in their communities. This would be accomplished through the following:

·        Re-allocating services, products and resources from developing nations to women in developing nations who are dedicated to the health and dignity of other women, their families, and their communities.

·        Providing health, community organization and fiscal information, education and services to the women who serve as civic leaders, health professionals and human rights advocates in their community.

·        Promoting and/or providing opportunities for continuing education to women in the developing world.

·        Improving linkages between international, governmental, and academic institutions that assist in the sustainable development of women’s grassroots and community organizations that promote health and human rights to achieve economic independence and financial sustainability.

·        Promoting and supporting research that promotes women’s health and human rights. Increased formal recognition of the work and professions accomplished operate by and for women, such as, but limited to midwifery and other undercompensated professions.

·        Promoting universal access to reproductive health care for all women in developing world.

·        Lending financial, intellectual, and artistic support to women’s initiatives throughout the developing world.

A current focus of the activities of Juntos Adelante is the support of Mama Licha's Clinic in Estelí, Nicaragua (www.mamasclinic.org).

·        Raises material aid to help the popular movement for justice and democracy.

·        Provides information and referrals to individuals and groups wanting to know more about Nicaragua.
