Setting Up Ventrilo

VoIP and Chat useful for matches and Communication

Note to those without a mic: You can use chat with TTS narrated and set Text-To-Speech Binds to talk

1.) After click the username and setup a username, phonetic is how your name will be pronounced when you join the server

2.) Setting up server just pick any of the above IPs (On the right Sidebar) for Ventrilo and put it in.  If there is a password for server or user login put that in too.

Optional) For Bindings you can select functions like text to speech, record, and transmitt to certain channels and stuff.

3.) Under setup you check the "push to talk" hotekey and set your own key.  Now whenever you press that key your microphone will be available for you to talk into.

Volume settings will be on the bottom righthand corner.

It is also a good idea to press chat and enable the check box called TTS so that a voice reads text for a more interactive chat.

Getting mIRC - Internet Relay Chat

Official meetings and matches are setup here.  It is a good idea to idle there to know what's going on

You can get mIRC at:

Register an account at www.gamesurge.net so you can authenticate yourself on the server.  You will get an email that tells you your authentication command.

Copy this command and go into mIRC goto tools and options.  When in go under connect where you will see options click the box that says "perform"

In the box put

/authserv auth [Username] [Password] (the line you copied)

//mode $me +x

Now you will automatically authenticate every time you connect to gamesurge

Now still in options under connections the servers choose "gamesurge" under "IRC Network" so you will automaticcaly connect to gamesurge

Now in your favourites add #icac in a folder for better organization.  And enter #icac channel

TeamSpeak

Similar to ventrilo, but chat is not available so mic is a necessity unless you want to use admin to send message to everyone

Note to those without a mic: Click channel or right click a person to send text messages if you have sufficient privileges.

Basically fill in the stuff in quick connect with anything you want (TeamSpeak Servers are on the top right sidebar of this page). 

Now once your in the server, get someone with admin to Allow you to register.  Once you have permission click (from the top) Self->Register with server

 Now, don't use quick connect as you will not be registered.

Goto Connect instead, Right Click the empty and click "add server".  Then Fill out the information you filled when your registered with the server in the previous password.

Now when you connect you are registered and don't have to register again.

Goto (The topbar) Settings->Sound Input/Output Settings to set your volume and talk bind.  You Can bind other stuff with Settings->Keysettings.
