Walpole Residents' Association

WRA was established over 30 years ago as a response to Council plans to demolish many of the historic homes in Ealing town centre and surrounding areas to make way for a new proposed highway from The Broadway to West Ealing.

Since then, WRA has continued to be the most significant body representing the view of those whose lives are affected by changes in Ealing. WRA maintains close contact with influential councillors and council officers.

Our achievements include

  • Played an important role in redesigning the original plans for the town centre
  • First called for a controlled parking zone (CPZ) in the Thames Valley University (TVU) area, and played a leading role in its design
  • Tracked planning and building applications and supported or opposed as appropriate
  • Worked to restrict licensing of new pubs/clubs and the expansion of existing ones

 Our present influence

Major changes for the Ealing area are being proposed - changes which will affect us all. WRA is the only local residents' association represented on the board of the Ealing Centre Partnership (ECP). This body brings together business, leisure and council stakeholders to promote the vitality and viability of both Central and West Ealing.
