The IAA uses Google Groups to communicate with current students about such things as social events, home work assignments, available resources and calendar changes. These groups are populated with students, staff and faculty. Students themselves use the groups to share homework advice, pictures and information they find interesting. Google Groups also allows the IAA to distribute files and keep biographies or 'pages' for each student using this forum. The pages are created by the students themselves and help them become acquainted with each other during the summer bootcamp. The IAA program finds that using Google Groups helps build relationships within the student cohort and makes easy, searchable, one-stop-shopping for important information students need to know.
For Current Students In addition to communicating with current students using Google Groups, the IAA also maintains their relationship with previous students using Google Groups. The Alumni Forum is populated with all previous students of the MSA program. For Alumni In addition to the groups that the IAA creates, students themselves use Google Groups that they have created to handle communication related to their practicum projects and for special topics such as helping each other pass certification exams.
