HyperSweet "Minds the Gap" + Events This Sunday!

Being overwhelmed is never easy, especially when you have non-profit projects that have to take the back-burner while you sort out your life.  That's exactly what happened to the happenin' team of HyperSweet Issue 3.0.  But rest assured that the ball is again rock-n-rollin' and the release time is guest-imated for March 28th.  Like that pre-recorded British announcer for London's Underground Tube (that's a subway to you Yanks) says, "Please Mind the Gap."

In the meantime, there's some truly great events happening this Sunday, March 18th.  Pick one or go to both... they're both kinda close to each other... We'd love to see you there!

Diggin' Sundays at Tribal Cafe * 1-6pm * No Cover
JoelQuiz and his DJ crew go crate diggin' & spice up the Tribal Cafe with electic sounds from 1-6pm every 3rd Sundays at Tribal Cafe (1651 W. Temple Street, Los Angeles, 90026).  While you're at Tribal Cafe, sip on some gourmet made-to-order smoothies & juices, or the usual cafe fare, tea & coffee.  Also, Tribal Cafe is known for their Adobo Sandwiches and other fresh, made-to-order delights.  Yum!  Just make sure the next person you kiss is down for some Adobo action!

The Health Club at Ghetto Gloss Gallery * 2pm - ?? * Cover?
I'm assuming this event is free, but one never can tell these days at art galleries with their "suggested donations" that are required.  WTF?  Anyways, Ghetto Gloss Gallery in Silverlake (2380 Glendale Blvd) is down with the underground and features local and out-of-town artists regularly.  This Sunday is Kraftworks craft fair.  The ever so healthy, The Health Club performs at 2pm and we hear that Dino from Sufferer's Incorporated is doing a solo set.  Pssst!  Ask Gerard of The Health Club to show you his new dance moves... you won't be dissapointed...

JACKETS PROJECT in review

Thanks to all who came out to the JACKETS PROJECT art show.  Drew (a.k.a A Growl Translucent) did such a great job organizing, curating, and promoting this event!  I'm so proud to see that it was such a success and honored that he let HyperSweet be an integral part of it!

Tribal Cafe was packed to the gills -- so much so that the one cafe employee was overwhelmed with food and drink orders.  I apologize to those who had to wait upwards to an hour for their food and/or drink.  But for the most part, we're so happy with how the event came off.  Thanks to the Jeroldines for playing live even without their drummer.  We can't wait to see you all again for the next show!

We didn't think it was wise to leave up such awesome hands-on art pieces at the Tribal Cafe, but please stay tuned to a traveling show where the art from JACKETS PROJECT might be shown at a different location + new pieces!

Click here for PHOTOS.  Of course, the photos of the art do not do them justice, especially the 3-D ones.  But those who were there saw just how intricate some of the designs were.  Thanks to Gary for providing some of his awesome photos from JACKETS PROJECT.

Theme & Deadline announced for Issue 3.1

Deadline for submissions: February 2, 2007

Theme: TECHNOLOGY

Note on the theme: For most people, the word, "technology" denotes high-tech, but this is an abstract theme that is open to interpretation.  The topic of your submission could be high-tech, low-tech, how technology effects you and/or your surroundings, innovations of the human race (fire, the wheel, etc)...That said, have fun, be creative & please contribute! -viv

Notes on Issue 3.1 in 2007!

HyperSweet Zine + friends have been crazy busy with the end of year blitz! It doesn't help that a tight budget puts us in a tight spot w/ printing, so Issue 2.2 is now out-of-print & a collector's item! And that only eggs on the creativity & motiviation to push forward into 2007!

That's right, kids, HyperSweet has it's thinking cap on for Issue 3.1, so please stay tuned. Gonna be a winnah!

I'll announce the theme for 3.1 within the next couple of weeks & put out a call for submissions.

In the meantime, have a safe, yet fun New Year's. Most of the HyperSweet peeps will be at the event below. I wish I could have Issue 2.2 available, but I'm completely out of stock, which makes it that much more exciting to eagerly await Issue 3.1.

See ya in 2007!

DONFEST 2006 - Photo Review

Here's the pictorial review of the long day and night the DONFEST crew spent at the Eagle Rock Music Festival on Saturday, Oct 7, 2006. Great fun was had. We met so many good people. We saw and heard so many good bands and DJ's. Don gave away lots of freebies and made people of all ages extremely happy. We were all very proud to have brought the music we love and believe in to the ears and souls of Eagle Rock.

DONFEST Stage is ready to go!

We're workin' at it...

Issue 2.2 is being formulated as we speak... uh, type... and it looks like it's gonna be a winnah!  The Japan theme looks like it's taking shape well and we'll have something by the end of the month... so, it's not really a summer issue as much as it is a where-the-hell-did-summer-go issue.  Or a why-is-this-summer-so-damn-hot-I-can't-even-think-straight issue... Or... well, you get the idea.

Keep your eyes peeled... we're comin' at ya!
