Dog Platfom

One of the reasons that I bought the Ford truck with the *crew cab* was because I needed the back seat area for my three dogs, two Border Collies and a Beardie mix.

I was worried that they would crumple on to the floor if I hit the brakes so I fashioned a platform for them. They love it, they can all lie down and stretch out. One of my dogs often likes to ride up front with me and with this set up he has the choice to ride in the back on the platform.

Materials were... 1/2 inch plywood, PVC pipe, cut in 13" lengths, pvc holders screwed into brackets attached to the underside of the plywood with screws and little PVC feet.

So the edges of the plywood weren't rough, I put PVC pipe insulation along the edges.... You can see that in the photo below, and the finished product in the second photo. I stuffed in an old sheepskin to brace the platform againt the back of the seat.

I think this will work out very well, as it gives me a little storage area under the platform so the dogs can't get at things (groceries for example). It lifts out quite easily if I need the space for humans.

The Finished Product, with a "Navajo" rug since then I've added a very soft comfy bed
