Please call the school and let us know if your child will be absent 720-972-5440 ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES The first bell rings at 7:40 am and students are let in to the classroom Second bell rings at 7:45am and school begins. Dismissal of class is at 2:30 pm. Wednesday on early release is 1:15 pm BEHAVIOR If a child is being disruptive the scholar will be conference with concerning the problem and we will work together to develop strategies to solve the problem. Adult family is contacted if the behavior problem is severe enough that the student needs intervention. We will work together to develop a behavior plan if needed to help our scholar to be successful. BIRTHDAYS The birthday child may bring a treat for the class, but that is up to the family. We respect the family’s choice concerning celebration. Please include napkins, plates, or cups as needed for serving the treat. You may drop treats before school starts. Please send only enough for the class and teacher. Students may not give out treats to other teachers or classes. CHANGE IN TRANSPORTATION Please send a note or call the office if your child will be going home a different way than what is listed on the enrollment card. COMMUNICATION Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to write a note, email or call. Please call before school, planning time or after school to help not take time away from classroom instruction. Please check the teacher information listed on the home page to assist you in your communication. DIFFERENTIATION We differentiate instruction, which means that students are taught based on instructional level as well as interest. Groupings change frequently based on students skills and background knowledge. ENRICHMENT We have several students that have been identified as Academically Talented. Enrichment children will have more challenging work experiences and projects, in order to challenge them to their hightest level. This work will also be an option for other children in the classroom who are performing at the same level. GRADING SCALE We use standard based rubrics to evaluate student work and have identified learning essential with each subject area. Students are given grades in the fourth grade. Grading is as follows: 100% - 90% = A 89%-80% = B 79%-70% = C 69%-60% = D 59-below = F Mid-term reports will be issued halfway through each semester. Report cards are issued three times a year. HOMEWORK Homework is assigned Monday through Friday. Students should read twenty to thirty minutes per evening and will have fifteen to thirty minutes of math homework per evening. In the case that homework is not completed on the day it is due, the student is to stay in at recess to finish it. What does not get completed during recess is additional homework that night. If there is a valid reason why the homework cannot be completed in the time given, parents are to write a note to the teacher and an extension will be provided. Please note the Homework help section on the “Student” page on our website. LUNCH Hunters Glen uses a debit card system for your child to enter a pin number each time they purchase lunch at school. Students may bring their lunch money to class and then the teacher will send it to the cafeteria where it will be logged into their account or you can drop off lunch money in the office. Please see the lunch menu on HG main website for more lunch information. MONDAY FOLDERS Your child student’s grade work will be coming home weekly in the Monday folder. Please look over the assignments so you know what we are covering and how you child is progressing. Empty folders should be returned on Tuesday. PTO Parent, Teacher, Organization is a volunteer group that promotes families and school personal working together to make our school the best it can be for our community. Your help and involvement in our rooms and at our school helps our community greatly. Take time to check out HG PTO website to see how to join and volunteer. Your support of our school means a lot! SNACK Please provide your child with a healthy snack every day. If you want to send a drink with your child, please send a water bottle – no juice. If your child has a food allergy, please let us know. SUPPLIES If your child runs out of one or more of his/her supplies , please replace them as soon as possible. The supply list is located in the “Student Information” webpage or on the Hunters Glen page. TARDIES If your child is late for school, please sign them in at the office before sending them to the classroom. TOYS Students should not bring toys to school. We are not responsible for a lost or stolen toy. VISITORS All guests are required to check in at the school office and must be wearing a “Visitor’s Pass” or you will not be allowed in the classroom or any other part of the building. VOLUNTEERS We provide many opportunities for families to volunteer and /or visit our classrooms. Your support can be exhibited in a number of ways: helping with parties, assisting with special projects, sending in treats or party goods, chaperoning field trips, reading to the class, and preparing materials at home. Please let your classroom teacher know you are interested and what you would feel comfortable helping with. Zzzzz! Make sure your child gets plenty of rest. Setting and keeping a bedtime schedule is a wonderful gift you give your child. It may help them to be more consistent, successful and achieve their best at school. |
