Recent News

1st December 2011

Mr Peter Longworth (of Longworth and Taylor, Hale) has generously donated hedging plants and enlisted a member of his workforce to prepare the ground for the new hedging to be installed along the boundary with Humphrey Crescent.

Mr Alan Dawson of
Newcroft Nurseries has generously donated bags of topsoil/compost for the new hedging.

Many thanks to both gentlemen for the grateful contribution. This will greatly improve the appearance of the area and provide environmental benefits over the aging fencing it replaces.

We have a variety of regular community events which you are welcome to attend. These are listed to the left. You will find more details about each session in the Regular Events section of the site. For more information, please use the contact details given for each group.

Our first community centre opened here in 1948 when a group of local people persuaded Urmston Council to add a large hall on to the disused air-raid precautions shelter that once stood at this location. Since then, local residents have been enjoying the wide variety of events that have been held here. The current building was opened in 1963.

If you would like to share your comments or photos with us relating to an event at the centre, you can do this on our Facebook page, or email them to us for inclusion on the website. Our email address is available on request.

HPCA are pleased to show their support for the Breathe Clean Air Group. They are campaigning against the Barton incinerator because of the negative effect this will have on an area which is already classified as an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA). The incinerator will release additional poisonous toxins into the atmosphere at a time when reducing pollutants should be a priority. Visit the BCAG website for more information.
