How to Get the Piranhas Out of Your Head

Pamela Woll

How to Get the Piranhas Out of Your Head is a positive, practical piece for anyone who's ever been pursued by piranhasthose nasty little voices in our heads that tell us we blew it, we can't succeed, we suck, other people suck, etc.  It has fishes and frogs andoh, noan entire remapping of the human brain!
With its silly illustrations, tongue-in-cheek humor, and 10 suggestions for staying out of the piranhas' jaws, this little booklet takes an entertaining, non-threatening, but never simplistic look at some very serious and sometimes painful aspects of being humanand the strengths and resources we can use to make more courageous and destructive choices.  (For a sample, at the end of this page you can download the first couple of pages.)

The Piranha Workbook follows the structure of the Piranha booklet, providing workbook exercises, journal pages, and progress charts for each of the 10 suggestions.  You can start at the beginning and plow through to the end, or just pick the pages that seem useful to you.

The Piranha Leader's Guide is written for therapists, trainers, discussion group leaders, mentors, and sponsors who plan to work with individuals or groups on the piranha materials.  It includes a seven-session group process, notes on compatibility with evidence-based practices, progress charts, DSM diagnostic criteria for Piranha Brain Syndrome, and an article abstract from the Journal of Icthyological Psychiatry.

Piranha Presentations are also available.
