Metalkymist

All through the 1980´s  I worked as a drummer and toured all over Europe including East Germany and Yugoslavia. In 1996 I toured South Korea with Lim Dong Chang.

 I led my own group called It´s My Head which included Jorgen Cremonese. R L Lunding and Norwegian photographer Per Talleraas. I performed solo percussion concerts and played with many different groups performing in all kinds of venues and did live TV and radio broadcasts. 

 I'd been searching for various metal sounds, especially gongs and not finding them, decided
to make my own. It started in 1990 in Scandinavia.
Within a year I had some of Europe´s best musicians playing my creations and Paolo Vinaccia has been playing my cymbals since 1993.

I had a very powerful dream in which I experienced otherworldly instruments and this was
the inspiration for me to invent and pioneer gong and cymbal sculptures in the early 1990's.
These have developed into truly unique art works and are exhibited and played all over Europe.

All of my gong and cymbal sculptures are forged entirely by hand. The ancient smithing techniques of  hand hammering on wood blocks and anvils. Fire and water and many specialized methods of my own invention.

I work  mostly with bronze for my cymbal and gong sculptures. Stainless steel for my outdoor sculptures.  Both metals have unique qualities. Bronze is the ancient and traditional alloy, while stainless steel is relatively new and has great strength,  durability, powerful sonorous energies and beautiful light reflecting surface.
In 1992 I forged  The Worlds Largest Gong. Which was 2.5 meters in diameter and weighed 155 kilos. Created in 302 stainless steel and exhibited at amorphus in Denmark.

1996. I made sea sculptures that were exhibited in the fjord outside Kolding in Denmark. Rooftop installation of sculptures in Holmen in Copenhagen.

2006 I created a garden of sound sculptures in a Welsh forest.

2008 A sound sculpture installation on a sea going vessel in Denmark.

I'm probably the most stolen Welsh artist. I´ve had sculptures stolen in Wales, Holland, Denmark - the whole installation and in Norway 7 sculptures. So please buy my creations and not steal them. Also Please do not ask for an ´endorsement deal ˇ
