Welcome to the Hot Springs Village SeniorNet Learning Center at the McAuley Senior Center
The SeniorNet Learning Center of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas was established in 1994 to provide adults 50 years of age and older access to and education about computer technology and the Internet in order to enhance their lives and to enable them to develop their knowledge and wisdom.
The Hot Springs Village SeniorNet center, located inside the McAuley Senior Center at 5010 N Highway 7, serves the area of Garland County in and surrounding Hot Springs Village. The staff has grown from its humble beginnings of five to over fifty volunteers.
Classes, which are limited to eight students with an experienced instructor and two trained coaches per class, are offered during fall, winter and spring terms.
Each term starts with an open house, where potential students have the opportunity to visit the computer lab and to meet with instructors who assist in course selection. This is followed by class registration where individuals may sign up for specific classes. Classes meet for one and one half hours once a week for eight weeks with each student assigned to a computer and receiving a manual to use as a home resource tool.
The cost of this popular program includes a $40.00 per person (or $60.00 per couple)fee for the first full year of SeniorNet membership or $30.00 per person annual SeniorNet membership renewal fee plus an additional fee of $20.00 for each class. This cost covers SeniorNet membership for one year, instruction for eight weeks and the course manual which becomes the student's property. Most courses provide a tutorial CD containing practice files for reinforcement of class lessons.
SeniorNet is sponsored by St. Joseph's Volunteer Auxiliary of St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center. Anyone interested in additional information, or who would like to be placed on the mailing list may call the toll free number of 1-888-855-5091.
