My essence lies 

    in the lilting gamaka

    and the unsung poignancy of the lullaby's raaga.

 Pain and hurt

                                                        elation and confusion die away

                                                        when I become the yearning behind every note

                                                And when breath blows 

                                                        through me as though I were a wooden flute

                                                        I know my only peace is in that melody's hollow fullness

Music resides in everything, turning things ordinary into things extraordinary. The whisper of trees, the giggling of the stream, the inaudible sounds of the rainbow, in childlike laughter, within and beyond the contours of the heart. Hridaya Sangeetham aspires to create a space of peace, community, and imagination through an exploration of music, melody and sound.

 Curriculum 

The core curriculum of Hridaya Sangeetham is the learning, discovery of music, and the cultivating of artistic expression. 

A general class – 1 hour

•    Open time – children can write, draw, participate in  movement, or simply listen as music plays.
•    Yoga – to loosen up and relax
•     Music discovery – children learn Carnatic basics, through  lessons and activities, with an emphasis on
