Last year's workshop introduced the principles and technology behind SW. Many of you came back excited and wanting to hear about applications. So here we go - you'll find out SW is where many other data intensive technologies are converging:

Data-Intensive Discovery in the Life Sciences

Hands on data driven workshop on cloud computing logistics, semantic web modelling and high performance resources at TMC. [GCC's page]

The management, analysis and modelling of data in the Life Sciences is characterized by heterogeneous data types, distributed data sources, fluid semantics and asymmetric resource requirements. As a consequence, Biomedical research often calls for integrative approaches by large collaborative teams. In this hands on two-day workshop the attendants will be coached through the cycle of managing, aggregating, analyzing and modelling biomedical data. Specific topics include both infrastructure at GCC Institutions, as well as the logistics of using external resources.
