“WHAT IS THE HOUSE OF GRACE MATERNITY HOME?”                                     p1040799

The House of Grace Materninty Home operates under the “umbrella” of the Pregnancy Resource Center of   Panama City Inc. along with several other ministries. The PRC, a 26 year old ministry realized the number of pregnant girls in our service area between the ages of 10 and 17 was growing, we felt the need to help with their housing in a safe, Christian, family environment.

“WHERE DO YOUR GIRLS COME FROM?”
The House of Grace receives referrals from churches, schools, adoption agencies, law enforcement and other organizations.  We accept girls that live in Florida as well as surrounding States.

“ARE ANY GIRLS EVER FORCED TO COME TO THE HOUSE OF GRACE?”          No, the girls enter the program on their on accord.  They are also not forced to stay in the program.

“WILL THE GIRLS BE ABLE TO CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION WHILE AT THE HOUSE”

Yes! We provide education through an accredited homeschooling program overseen by Accelerated Christian Education (ACE). We also are able to connect a resident with the GED program through one of our local adult education programs. Our Educational Coordinator encourages and assists our residents with their schoolwork daily. We also have volunteer tutors from local schools who visit weekly to help with difficult subjects such as Math and English.

“WHO GOES TO THE DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS AND HOSPITAL WITH THE GIRLS?”
Resident staff members go with the girls to and from doctor appointments. Each resident is also teamed up with what is called a Birth Coach who may also go with her to doctor appointments and will be with her in the hospital when she gives birth. Our Birth Coaches are very knowledgeable about pregnancy and birthing, they provide the individual resident with reliable support and will be an advocate for her.

“ARE THERE ANY COSTS INVOLVED FOR THE RESIDENTS STAYING IN THE HOUSE OF GRACE?”
All services are provided to the residents free of charge. These services include: individual, group, and family counseling; housing accommodations including a furnished bedroom; meals; homeschooling education; relationship and abstinence education; parenting education; life skills training; connection with community resources and more. They are able to participate in a healthy Christian Family Invornment possibly for the first time ever.

“WHAT ABOUT MEDICAL COVERAGE?”
If the girl’s family does not have medical coverage, we assist in signing her up for medicaid. In some cases, clients may qualify for pregnancy medicaid as a supplement to their primary insurance coverage.

“ARE THERE ANY OTHER COSTS?”
There are no hidden costs at House of Grace. However, if possible, we ask that a resident’s family provide a weekly allowance of $20 for her to buy non-necessity items and learn how to save and budget money. If the family is unable to provide this, we have ministry partners who are able to provide the allowance as a scholarship.

“ARE RESIDENTS ALLOWED TO WORK AT A JOB WHILE AT THE HOUSE OF GRACE?”
While at House of Grace our focus with the resident is on care for herself, her unborn child, and her education. The girls do not hold employment during their stay at House of Grace. However, upon discharge planning, the staff works closely with the resident in all areas of post placement including work related issues.

“HOW IS THE HOUSE OF GRACE FUNDED?”
We are a non-profit 501 (c) 3 ministry and rely solely on the generosity of our community for funding. We do not accept any government funding because we do not want to be restricted from sharing Christ with our residents; we believe that only through Christ can a person’s life truly change.

“DOES THE HOUSE OF GRACE ACCEPT PREGNANT TEENS NEEDING PLACEMENT FROM STATE AGENCIES?”
We do accept pregnant teens who are under the care of the Department of Children and Families (DCF).  We do not take funding from the state for girls placed in our care, and we reserve the right to return her to DCF if she shows an unwillingness to participate in our program abiding by all house rules.
