Daishi

 (Test)

Introduciton

Of all the 100 ton Assaults in existence, none can match the raw power of the Clan Daishi/Dire Wolf. In it's original configuration, (pre MW4) the Daishi lives up to its name, "Great Death". QUOTE from Wikipedia

The BattleTech universe and its related MechWarrior game series have popularized the word Daishi as the Inner Sphere moniker for the Dire Wolf class OmniMech, albeit with the syllable shi in a different context, meaning "death" instead of "teacher." The Daishi is the most powerful Mech in the game. No other Mech can carry equal firepower.

See, I told ya. Now to use this beast, you have to be good with heat. Even it's modified MW4 stock loadout is hot. As with all 100 tonnners, it's big and slow, with a max speed of 71 kph, making it the second slowest Assault on the menu.

Chassis Analysis

It goes without saying that if used properly, the Daishi can live up to its full potential, but that big, fat, juicy CT is still yer best bet to put the great one down. Head shots are still common in game and it's legs can be had for a low price, despite its post MP3 increase of Ferro Fibrous armor to 25 tons max. If all ya want is brutal power, then Daishi is for you. Many o' configs exist that are just insane. With 22 slots to customize, it's no wonder the Daishi still makes people quiver when it pops up on their radar. One 1x2 Missile, two 1x3 Ballistic, two 1x3 Beam, one 1x4 Omni, and two 1x2 Omni give it the ability to carry nearly every weapon. It's a love it or hate it mech, but don't you ever ignore it, you will pay the ultimate price.

Tactical Analysis

Since the dawn of MekTekian mods, the Daishi is no longer a first choice 100 tonner. Even with its improved CT and increase in armor, it still does not spark primary when yer thinking 100 tons. 22 weapon slot strong, this mech sees most action in open servers. Though powerful, annoying and deadly, it is not seen in any great numbers in league play, if at all. Limited torso twist of 80°, lousy side view and below average top speed are also limiting factors. Yet it's capability for weapons is devastating. In most cases, this factor more than any other makes up for its defficiencies. Classic loadout or post MW4, the Daishi can reach at long ranges, bringing near death before opponenets can react. Despite its Heat Capacity of 70.30 and 18 Heat Sinks, its Heat Efficiency is only 66% overall. You will need upper level discipline to effectively employ this massive machine. Engaging with missile systems first at 1000M, then bring on the Clan ER Large Lasers at 800M, followed up with a pair of Clan Ultra AC5's at 700M, most targets are dead at this point. LAMS gives it prolonged life against missiles and Advanced Gyro for stability, but during cool down and recycle, the Daishi is vulnerable. Slots are spread over the chassis in good number, 45% in the Arms, 27% in the Left and Right Torso's, 18% in the Center Torso and 2% Missile Rack. Long range, medium or short, the Daishi is capable of classic Beam and Ballistic combo loadouts for incredible punch, with missiles for support and follow-up. Be sure you know what you are doing when using this chassis.

Conclusion

Simply put, the Daishi is the Great Death. It's not subtle, it's not quiet, and not to be taken lightly. Whether being in one or facing one, you better know what you are doing. Customization is virtually through the roof with all the variety in the lab menu, making the Daishi more flexible and deadlier than before. If you are on a mission or just plain fun, and all you want is a big sledge hammer, then choose the Daishi and experience the "Great Death" for yourself, from the good side.
