Marginalized

The "margins" are where many people find themselves. Marginalized people are those that find themselves on the outside or sidelines of society.

The Girl Effect


There tends to be socioeconomic or societal issues around "being on the fringe". Most times they feel rejected and are suffering. The people that fall into this category called "marginalized" can vary quite a bit and from nation to nation. It could be a single mother; a middle aged man that suffers with a mental illness; a street youth; a displaced immigrant; or a exploited young woman. A recurring theme is that of desperation. Many times the issues that drive this marginalization can include: poverty; discrimination; broken down relationships; addictions; and the list goes on...
