EVENT- Greeting Cards Workshop

Make Hope  Avenue Greeting Cards that will be a part of its Give It Forward Today (GIFT). Select cards from this workshop will be printed and these cards will be given in exchange for donations which benefit our charities.  Free for kids of all ages.


 

EVENT- Geography Workshop

Get ready for the new, improved and in a new Avatar, our very own Geography Workshop.  We hope to present a new format & syllabus which excites and enriches the minds of our  young explorers. Free for kids of all ages.
 

UPDATE- Bracelet workshop at ATMA

Shruthi Gopalan and Mayuri Senthilnathan conducted bracelet workshops at ATMA(American Tamil Medical Association) and raised $100. Thank you girls!

UPDATE- T shirt workshop
A splash of enthusiasm and a stroke of genius by the kids and a tint of support from the parents! Thank you Nivi Palanivel and Aditi Senthilnathan for making this a huge success. Aug 14th  was a colorful day with 10 children tying and dyeing T shirts. With the rest of the time Shruthi Gopalan brought out her beads and worked her magic with jewelry making. We hope to have  more such workshops in the Fall. After all, it was fun for a cause, the funds of this workshop will be donated to Japan Earthquake victims at the Red Cross.

                                                                                                                                                                                   
UPDATE- Food bank volunteering-USA 

Food Bank visit in August was also a very enriching experience. In Aditi’s words, “We truly understood that something we take for granted so much - food - is in such great demand, and we felt gratified that we were able to help.  We had fun and felt accomplished at the same time.  I want to thank Deekshita and Sreeja for doing this me, and I encourage anyone who wants to volunteer for a few hours on a weekend to try doing so at the Food Bank!



 

Latest News- Chennai Chapter

Anagha(8) Harshitha(6)and
 Anushree(4)  celebrated their Birthdays with  up to 30 children making Greeting cards, bracelets and bead coasters respectively. It was a fun filled time with friends and parents. More importantly, it was heartening to see the mission of Hope Avenue in action- Seek, motivate, and nurture the positive outlook and team spirit in the young adult community.  Thank you Harshitha, Anagha and Anushree. You rock! With your choice of the Birthday Packages, Hope Avenue has raised Rs.4000 which will be donated to the Maithri trust. 

Weekend volunteering  for "Vedika" & "Maithri"

Hope Avenue Chennai is calling for volunteers to join our volunteer lead Srikala Ganapathy in giving their time and energy on Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm to work with children on Science, Art and Craft projects. These weekend interactions result in gifts that can be used in exchange for donations which  will go on to fund projects for the needy children to empower their lives and shape their future.

Silent Auction
 
Harshitha, together with her parents, donated her school project of a waterways model to Hope Avenue. With their suggestion of a silent auction of this model, the bid went at Rs.400 and with additional contribution by our President Lalitha Vasudeva, the total funds raised– Rs.700.                                                                                                                           Thank you Harshitha and family for this pioneering, “going..going...gone!” idea.

Readathon India

Readathon India has so far raised Rs.1000 half of which is kept in the reading lottery pool and the other half is planned to be donated to the rural school in Trichy.  Thanks to each one of the readers who participated in this first time event for Hope Avenue.

Jump rope club in Chennai, India 

The Jump rope club meets weekly to learn and advance on new jump rope routines. We also emphasize on having a healthy diet and disguise calorie burning routines in a fun and unique way. The proceeds from this club are donated to  Suseela old age home in Chennai.
