LUNCH BY THE RIVER:

Everyone is invited for Lunch by the River every Thursday at the corner of Kellogg Blvd. & Robert St. (Kellogg Square Park).  The band Inukshuk Pass will be playing.  Home Street Home, Messy Giuseppe, Neato's Burgers, Potter's Pasties & The Cave Cafe will be serving up delicious eats.  Check out our ad in the City Pages 'Meals on Wheels' issue.  The park has a beautiful view, large fountain and plenty of places to sit and enjoy lunch.  Come out every Thursday for some food and relaxation.



UPDATE - 2012 REOPENING:

(04/12/12) Look for our shiny blue truck in St. Paul next week. We have a schedule worked out so this year you will find us in the same spots each day. We've added a Thai chicken salad lettuce wrap and a Korean BBQ taco to the menu. This is going to be an exciting season. See you soon!








ABOUT:

Home Street Home is a St. Paul based gourmet food truck making all of their food from scratch using fresh local ingredients. Destiny has always loved making people happy with her food and Daniel has always wanted to work for himself. They both ended their corporate careers and cashed out their life savings to live their dream. The duo had quite an adventure acquiring the truck and getting the business started. They had a one way ticket to Arizona in May of 2011 and the truck they had placed a down payment on was sold the day before their flight, they flew out to Arizona anyway. Another truck was found but it had to be left behind waiting for transport because it was undrivable. They like to joke that the truck was also made from scratch because of all the efforts they made to get the truck running and the kitchen operational. Starting a food truck this way isn’t ideal but it was all they could afford. In the end they ended up with a beautiful, just like new food truck.

    Globally inspired comfort food would be one way to describe the food. A rotating menu of American, Asian, Italian and Mexican fare is served. Due to last year’s late start the truck was only open for a month but people were returning for their favorites like the pulled pork sandwich, blue cheese stuffed burger or fried flour tacos. The pulled pork is slow roasted in Summit India Pale Ale, topped with Destiny’s scratch made BBQ sauce and crisp citrus coleslaw on a butter toasted, locally baked bun. The burger is a quarter pound of local grass fed beef from Ridgeroll Farm in Buffalo, MN. It is stuffed with blue cheese, topped with sautéed onions and red peppers, Havarti cheese and scratch made citrus ketchup. Some other items are a Thai chicken salad lettuce wrap, fajitas, Korean BBQ tacos, the perfect four cheese grilled cheese, scratch made soups and a BBQ chicken quesadilla.

    Our beef comes from Ridgeroll Farms in Buffalo, MN, the breads are baked fresh daily right here in St. Paul at St. Agnes Bakery.
